Creme Egg Scotch Egg

Before you read the title of this blog post and declare that I am completely mad and stop reading - I beg you to let me explain as I have in FACT found something SO incredible and delicious - you will want to thank me for writing this.

I recently wrote about the Creme Egg cafe. I have now found something else Creme Egg related which is very exciting.

The Harrods food hall is the stuff of dreams (and tourists!). They have come up with something totally dreamy - a chocolate lovers delight.

The Creme Egg scotch egg is an actual whole creme egg "wrapped" in a layer of gooey chocolate brownie and sprinkled with biscuit crumbs. I KNOW.

I bought one of these on Friday and took it home with me. My whole family who are obsessed with creme eggs literally crowded round to see what would happen when I cut into it. The result was so beautiful and delicious.

The whole thing was gone rather quickly and whilst it sounds disgusting - it really was rather good.

At £3.95 it was not cheap but I guess you MIGHT not eat a whole one yourself so splitting the cost with a friend makes this treat more economical.

The Creme Egg Scotch Egg can be found in the Harrods Food Hall until Easter.

Jules Robertson: Aspergers / Holby City

Back in November I wrote about the author Kathy Lette and her son Jules - he is a budding actor and last week I caught his TV debut on BBC 1 in Holby City.

There is a real significance with this news, which is that Jules has Aspergers syndrome and he had been cast to play a character with the same condition. This has never been done before (not on that show anyway).

Kathy says "Sadly, only 15% of autistic people are in the workforce, which is much lower than other disabilities, despite their high IQ's. (Autistic people are often Wikipedia with a pulse.) If society could just be less judgemental and more accepting of people's quirks, autistic people could give back to society in the most fascinating and creative ways."

Here is a picture of Jules in role - he was really brilliant and is set to be in Holby for quite some time to come - who know's what he'll do next !

Marc Jacobs Beauty

Having had a job where it was considered “wrong” and “not really appropriate” to take a lunch break (I know!) let alone the entitled lunch HOUR – I am now in a job where I fully make the most of the allotted time – and I do because I’m aware lots of people aren’t as lucky and I have been in that boat.

If I’ve got the time and the energy, I sometimes pop into Harrods which is often a NIGHTMARE (too many tourists but the food hall alone is sensational).

Their window displays are usually totally amazing – since Christmas they have included two Aston Martins, a GIANT pot of La Prairie moisturiser and at the moment it’s an enormous Marc Jacobs lipstick and other over sized make up to mark the launch of their new beauty range (in the beauty / blogging world - apparently this arrival is the "news we've all been waiting for").

They have named one of their lipsticks Charlotte after the young royal. I am not really into Marc Jacobs but was given a Marc by Marc Jacobs scarf for Christmas and wear it everyday - I love it.

I couldn’t resist taking a peek at the exhibition / display this week in Harrods. I saw this quote on the wall and thought I would share it here -

Who cares what Miss Manners has to say!

When She was Young

Adele released her new album (25) last November, and it remains at the top of the charts – no surprises there at all - I haven't heard ALL of it but RUMOUR HAS IT (sorry not sorry) that its another gem.

One of the songs is called “When we were young” and the artwork to go with this was published last week.

I spotted this poster just outside my flat off Portobello Road.

Baby Adele is ADORABLE.

Alan Rickman

It is impossible not to feel overwhelmingly sad after hearing about the death of Alan Rickman - and I have been meaning to publish this post in the last two weeks.

A British Icon. One of my most favourite actors.

What hurts the most is knowing how much he meant to those who worked with him and knew him for as many as 40 years (Emma Thompson, Juliet Stevenson, Ruby Wax to name a few). I can't imagine loosing someone I adored so much having known them for that long.

What with losing Alan Rickman, David Bowie and Sir Terry Wogan in January 2016, this year hasn't got off to the greatest of starts. Here's hoping that February and beyond are somewhat brighter....
